Philippians 2:5-11

5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in very nature[a] God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature[b] of a servant, being made in human likeness.
8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!
9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

  1. God came to EARTH

Who, being in very nature God……

“He who hates Me – hates My Father also.”  John 15:23

“If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him.” John 14:7

He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. Colossians 1:17

“Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.” John 8:58

  1. God became Flesh & Blood

He emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God……And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory,  glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.”                  John 1:1; 14

He was born like us

“Word became flesh and dwell among us…”

He grew like us

“Jesus increased in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man.” Luke 2:5

He was tempted like us

“For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.” Hebrews 4:15

He suffered like us

“My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death; remain here and keep watch with Me.” Matthew 26:38

  1. Jesus came with a Purpose

Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

To demonstrate God love to us

“But God has made clear his love to us, in that, when we were still sinners, Christ gave his life for us.” Romans 5:8

To pay for our sins

“He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.” 1 Peter 2:24

  1. Jesus is Lord

God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

“If you confess with your mouth, `JESUS IS LORD’, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9

“If you confess with your mouth, `JESUS IS LORD’, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9

(a) Acknowledge that He really is God.
(b) Understand that He has everything under control.
(c) Commit all of your life to Him.

Jesus is Lord!
